Halfhill Market, Pandaria – The second installment of the much-anticipated Goblins vs. Gnomes Race stormed through Pandaria on the 25th of January, bringing high-speed chaos, mechanical ingenuity, and the usual dose of trickery to the lush fields of the Valley of the Four Winds. From Halfhill Market to Tavern in the Mists, competitors braved treacherous terrain, unexpected malfunctions, and some very creative shortcuts in pursuit of victory.
The starting line was a spectacle of barely controlled chaos. Steam hissed from overworked boilers, unstable arcano-engines pulsed with ominous energy, and the scent of engine grease mixed with the unmistakable tang of goblin rocket fuel. Goblin mechanics made last-minute “improvements” involving suspiciously large turbo boosters, while gnome engineers obsessively fine-tuned their stabilizers with the precision of a surgeon. A goblin in a soot-covered jumpsuit reassured onlookers that
“only a handful” of the vehicles had caught fire during test runs, while a trio of Pandaren farmers looked on with a mix of curiosity and growing concern for the safety of their crops.
As the flag dropped, the racers shot off the line, kicking up dust, sparks, and at least one detached wheel. The route was anything but safe, with tight turns, treacherous cliffs, and the ever-present danger of aggressive local wildlife. Goblins relied on pure speed and audacity, often opting for shortcuts that weren’t technically part of the racecourse, while gnomes focused on precision driving and tight cornering.
The event saw goblins and gnomes alike put their engineering prowess to the test, crafting makeshift vehicles, relying on sheer agility, and—let’s be honest—employing a healthy dose of underhanded tactics. The route was anything but easy, and racers had to navigate the landscape with precision and speed, all while fending off their rival faction.

After a gruelling contest, it was the goblins who secured the win this time, proving that their knack for speed and cunning remains formidable. The gnomes, however, put up an impressive fight and made sure their competitors didn’t claim victory too easily. As expected in any gnome vs. goblin competition, chaos was inevitable.
Some racers found themselves catapulted off-course by poorly calibrated ejector seats, while others suffered the mysterious loss of their engines at the most inconvenient moments. There were also unconfirmed reports of
“accidental” sabotage—though, as one goblin racer put it,
“That’s just strategy, baby!”, and at least one unfortunate detour into a Pandaren noodle stand made the contest an unpredictable spicy ride.
Following the race and the ceremony for the winners, the evening continued with a spectacular concert by the multi-talented group, The Cogspinners. Their performance left no doubt that while goblins may have claimed victory on the race track, the gnomes still dominate the musical scene, with no real competition from their green-skinned rivals.
With another thrilling chapter in the gnome vs. goblin rivalry complete, the competition remains fiercer than ever. Plans for the next race are already rumoured to be in the works, and both sides are eager for another chance to prove their supremacy.
