Tuesday evening at the old Dalaran crater in the Hillsbrad Foothills, a poignant memorial service unfolded, bringing together a diverse crowd of scholars, healers, and merchants who once called Dalaran home. The atmosphere was charged with emotion as the community gathered to pay tribute to the lost city, a symbol of resilience and unity.
Lorette Heffner, one of the key speakers, emphasized Dalaran's significance, declaring,
“Though the city may be lost, the spirit of Dalaran still stands within each of you.” Her words resonated with the crowd, reminding them of their shared history and the strength they found in adversity.
As emotions ran high, Heffner urged attendees to remember their strength in the face of challenges.
“You fought to safeguard not just a city but a way of life,” she stated, prompting murmurs of remembrance among the crowd.
The memorial service continued with Eldion Soran Dawnweaver and his husband, Theram, who shared their heartfelt reflections on loss and healing. Eldion recounted a poignant story and performed a sombre song, while Theram candidly spoke about his struggles with despair, using the metaphor of a broken bowl. As he meticulously reconstructed a shattered bowl during their performance, it symbolized the city's shared sorrow and collective strength.
"It is alright to be broken," he told the audience, emphasizing the importance of community support in the healing process.
Juniper Stites also addressed the crowd, urging unity and resilience amidst recent tragedies. With unwavering confidence, she reminded everyone that their losses were not just numbers but beloved individuals whose lives enriched the community. She said that
"In the shadow of destruction, we gather not just as witnesses to the past, but as architects of our future," she declared, igniting a spark of hope among those present.

Archmage Zyretha Snowdawn spoke of her upbringing in Dalaran's orphanage, painting a picture of a vibrant city defined by opportunity and learning. With tears in her eyes, she reaffirmed that while the physical city may be gone, its spirit lives on in the memories and hearts of those gathered.
"This story will never truly end," she emphasized, highlighting the ongoing legacy of Dalaran and its people.
As the sun set over the crater, the crowd moved to an outcropping to honour the memory of their beloved city. Zyretha announced that the memorial would be enchanted to preserve the moment, allowing future generations to remember the sacrifices made. She urged attendees to leave personal tokens of remembrance.
The evening concluded with a tradition of lighting fireworks, a cherished memory from Dalaran's past. Zyretha recounted how, during the War in Northrend, the Six would send care packages to seasoned adventurers from the city, including purple fireworks.
"Let the lights of Dalaran shine throughout time in our stories and memories of those we loved," she declared. With a countdown, the crowd set off the fireworks into the sky, each burst illuminating the darkness, a tribute to the spirit of Dalaran and the lives forever etched in their hearts.
