In an event that has shocked the entire world, the legendary city of Dalaran has been utterly destroyed, what is left of it now lies scattered along the shores of Khaz Algar. The disaster occurred shortly after the Kirin Tor council made the decision to teleport the city to this remote region, in response to a reported threat that many now believe was partly a carefully orchestrated trap.
The decision to teleport Dalaran was made in haste, following alarming reports of an imminent threat emerging from the depths of Khaz Algar. Archmage Khadgar authorized the relocation, intending to position Dalaran as a vanguard against this mysterious enemy. However, what was meant to be a strategic manoeuvre quickly turned into a nightmare.
Shortly after arriving at Khaz Algar an eerie silence was noticed in the streets of Dalaran. The expected assault Dalaran was meant to counter, seemed to have been a ruse. But soon the real attack happened, the trap had been sprung.
The ambush was as swift as it was devastating. Eyewitnesses report that the skies above Dalaran darkened without warning, followed by a series of deafening blasts that shattered the city's formidable magical barriers. "One moment, everything was normal, and the next, it was like the very sky was tearing apart," recalls Theron Sunscribe, a mage who narrowly escaped the collapsing halls of the Violet Hold.
As the city reeled from the initial shock, a wave of what has been reported as "Nerubians" emerged, attacking anything and anyone in their path. While the origin of these attackers remains unclear, rumours have already begun to circulate, with some speculating they may be remnants of an ancient enemy long thought defeated. Others whisper of a possible internal betrayal, pointing to the suspicious timing of the city's defences failing just as the attack began.
What remains of Dalaran now lies in ruins, scattered across the rugged coastline of Khaz Algar. The once majestic spires and floating towers are nothing more than broken remnants, half-buried in the sands and crashing waves. Rescue efforts have been complicated by the remote and hazardous terrain, but survivors are being found amidst the wreckage. However, the loss of life is believed to be catastrophic.
Ellarian Moonbreeze, a potter who was on the city’s outskirts when the disaster struck, described the harrowing scene. “There was little warning, suddenly there was these odd creatures in the streets tearing people apart and then the city was falling. I remember the screams, the sound of stone breaking apart… it was as if Dalaran was crying out in pain. Luckily I was one of those who managed to get teleported to the ground below in time to survive the final explosion of the city.”

Rumours are now swirling that the entire event was a trap, designed to lure the Kirin Tor into a deadly snare. “The timing, the precision of the attack… it was too perfect,” said an anonymous source within the Kirin Tor. “There are whispers that our enemies have infiltrated deeper than we ever imagined, perhaps even within the council itself.”
Some speculate that the information leading to the relocation was planted by agents of a dark power, aiming to eliminate Dalaran as a major threat.
Survivors of the attack describe a scene of utter devastation and confusion. "I was in the Legerdemain Lounge, getting ready for the morning rush, when I heard this awful, grinding noise, like the city was being torn apart from the inside," said Liera Dawnglow, a barmaid who managed to flee just before the building collapsed. "We ran into the streets, but there was nowhere safe to go. The air felt... wrong, like it was poisoned."
Another survivor, a warrior named Gareth Stonefist, spoke of the bravery of Dalaran's defenders, who fought valiantly to protect the fleeing citizens. "They held the line as best they could, but we were outnumbered and outmatched. It was like the attackers knew exactly where to strike to cause the most damage."
As the citizens of Dalaran begin to sift through the rubble of their once-glorious city, the world watches and waits for answers. Who or what was behind this attack? And why was Dalaran, a city known for its impregnable defences, caught so completely off guard?
For now, all that remains are questions, whispers, and the haunting memory of a city brought to its knees in the blink of an eye.
"We survived, but Dalaran did not. " said a survivor we spoke to on the shores of Khaz Algar.
The full extent of the damage, both physical, political and emotional, is yet to be seen, but one thing is certain: the attack on Dalaran has shaken Azeroth to its core.
In the wake of this disaster, the Kirin Tor is left leaderless and in disarray. Archmage Khadgar, Guardian of Azeroth has not been found among the survivors and is presumed dead. The council’s future is uncertain, as is the fate of the magical order that once stood as one of Azeroth’s greatest defenders.
For now, the world mourns the loss of Dalaran, a city that had survived countless wars and cataclysms, only to be undone by what appears to be an ambush none of the council was able to predict. As the true nature of this tragedy comes to light, one thing is clear: Azeroth is facing a new and terrifying threat, one that is already reshaping the world as we know it.
“We have lost more than just a city,” said a source within the Kirin Tor who survived the fall. “We’ve lost a symbol of hope. If Dalaran can fall, what’s next? Where are we safe?”
