This is the ninth article in a series about businesses and services in Dalaran, most which can be visited on Tuesday evenings during the weekly Dalaran night market.
As part of this The Lion's Roar has also employed a mystery shopper who has visited the shops, and their comments will be at the bottom of this article.
Dalaran – Some time ago I had the pleasure of meeting Keeper Nifre Mapleheart, the owner of the charming and unique shop, The Verdant Dryad, nestled in the bustling city of Dalaran. Our conversation provided a fascinating glimpse into the life of this druidess and hobby bard, who has turned her passion for druidic crafts into a thriving business. Despite the late hour, Nifre's energy and enthusiasm were palpable, and it was clear why her shop has become a favourite among both locals and travellers.
Meeting at the local café, with the strong aroma of coffee in the air, I was intrigued by Nifre's choice of Dalaran as the location for her shop.
"I met my wife here over five years ago," she shared, a soft smile playing on her lips.
"I just stuck around. Made many friends and connections. Perhaps odd for a Druid in Dalaran, but a lot of folks come and go. So, a good place vibrant with business chances."
Nifre’s journey into running The Verdant Dryad began over five years ago when she joined the Dustcloud cooperation and started learning from an Ancient of Wonders. This ancient knowledge, particularly the druidic runes, is now intricately woven into her creations.
"I started learning druidic runes, very ancient knowledge, to imbue my armour with," she explained, her eyes sparkling with the excitement of sharing her craft.
Her shop offers a variety of unique items, from druidic goods to herbs, instruments, potions, and recently, meads brewed by her elder sister.
"The herbs we grow back home in greenhouses, or they get collected and sent over. The carvings and jewellery I make, I carve myself. The instruments as well," Nifre detailed.
A Personal Touch in Every Carving
One of the standout features of The Verdant Dryad is the wooden carvings, which are particularly popular among her customers.
"Mostly of the Ancient Wild Gods," Nifre noted when I asked about the types of carvings people favoured.
"Think Ursoc, Ursol, Cenarius, Aessina, Malorne, and so forth." Each piece is crafted from various woods, including oak, maple, ironwood, and ebony, often made to order to meet specific requests.

Since opening The Verdant Dryad on the 14th of November last year, Nifre has found great joy in her work.
"I enjoy it very much and I like interactions with the lovely customers and friends I made here in Dalaran," she said warmly. Despite running the shop alone, she has assistance in the background and keeps her shop open most Tuesdays in Dalaran, at Kaldorei Festivals, and occasionally at Gilneas markets.
As for future plans, Nifre teased that there are always new projects on the horizon, though she kept the specifics under wraps.
"Well, that's a secret," she said with a sly wink.
As our interview concluded, Nifre expressed her gratitude to her regulars and extended an invitation to new customers.
"I hope to see the readers at the shop sometimes, and I thank the regulars for their continued patronage."
