If you, dear reader, know anything about this - please do get in touch with the Lion's Roar.
Does not really say much, plenty of former soldiers in the city, but let us go on, perhaps something more solid is unveiled! Yes, that is a teaser.
I'll just leave that without comments. Those who know, know.
I am sure it was a hectic moment for everyone involved, but Brother Peake's story does so far not leave me with an impression that this was justice, warranted, or that military personal present did their duty of trying to stop a dangerous mob assaulting unarmed peaceful civilians, in fact it seems they did the very opposite.
But I'll let you form your own opinion.
Brother Wyman Peake: "Brother Crowfoot was kicked int he face... A man older than this city, suffering from the wariness of his seniority... kicked... He was unarmed too..."
You where warned. We have gotten to the grim details of this story.
Brother Wyman Peake: "Anyhow... As we attempted to mount our horses, all fel broke loose. The mob, now consisting solely of knights, soldiers, mercenaries, Ren'doreis, and even Ebons... Began breaking at our collision... At least two of our pious brothers were kidnapped by said-Ebon... An Ebon... A forsaken cadaver.... A spawn of-of... Vile sorcery... And they call us cultists!"
I really must insist we stop referring to Ebon-Knights that way. It seems the Ebon-Knights in question surely deserve some negative words, but I don't think labelling every Ebon-Knight a forsaken cadaver is going to do much to help your cause. Unless of course, you happen to enjoy the colour "scarlet", in which case my sympathy is gone very quickly.
Brother Wyman Peake: "Well, the rest of us scrambled to horse... but to our dismay, the portcullis was shut, somehow... Truly bizarre... While a gang of mercenaries standing atop the Old-Town battlements, threw nets over some of us, as if we were escaped cattle!"
Brother Peake does raise an interesting question here. How did the portcullis get lowered, and how did mercenaries get to the top of the battlements? Something usually restricted for guards and military personnel? Perhaps this notion that the military played a part in this massacre is not as far-fetched as it may have seemed initially.
Brother Wyman Peake: "Brother Hoster Vance was struck by a net and was dismounted, as a man donning an array of absurd gadgets walked up to him, and stomped his head until he was dead. Estermont was also dismounted by a net, and was abducted... Taken to damp shack, where he was ruthlessly questioned by his captors. Harson Butch, Laurence Orwell, Mycroft Staith, Cerwyn Rykker, Emillian Modrigan... All lost their lives that night."
So far, half a dozen dead, and still no tale of our heroic military trying to stop this senseless slaughter, this unjustified massacre.
Brother Wyman Peake: "I managed to briefly escape the chaos at the stables, and witnessed with my own eyes, Cerwyn's slaughter at the hand of an Ebon. The Ebon pinned him to the ground, and punched his head until it was... O' gods help me... Until he was more soup than man..."
Brother Wyman Peake: "Ferugus 'Crowfoot' Crowkin... Three and ninety years old. Suffering from confusion and the wariness of old-age. He was pulled violently to the ground, and beaten savagely by knights... His death was quick. They impaled his horse from beneath him, as he was trying to escape!"
Seven now. Still waiting for the authorities to step in and stop this...
Brother Wyman Peake: "I apologize, but I've been spared the sight of how some of our brothers were slaughtered... I imagine there are horror stories I've yet to be aware of."
Hardhy Lester: "Mm I am sure this is enough. Thank you, sorry I had to make you relive this."
At this point Brother Peake also told me about how a Dracthyr took the time to go from corpse to corpse to incinerate them with its fiery breath. Can't have any evidence can we?
Hardhy Lester: "It is a lot to take in. Have you been charged with any crimes? did they tell you the reason for locking you up?"
Brother Wyman Peake: "They scarcely spoke to us, they only inquired for our names and our gods... The closest thing to a formal charge that I've heard, was that we've endangered the king's safety with our protest."
Brother Wyman Peake: "How exactly? They did not elaborate."
I may or may not have made a comment about how the King is not even around, so I fail to see how a simple protest could endanger him. But alas, I won't speculate to much on that one or I am sure heavy gauntlets will be knocking on my door soon enough.
I had heard enough at this point, and after a half-hearted joke about me knowing where to find them if I had more questions, I thanked them for their time - well Brother Peake's time I suppose - and left the Stockade with a full notebook and a heavy heart.
The Medium
As mentioned in the beginning then it has been difficult to find witnesses willing to talk about the slaughter and killing of the worshippers. Some didn't want to go on record about it, others might have taken part or at the very least not tried to stop it. If you know someone willing to speak to us about it, do get in touch.
Besides the few who did verify parts of the story, there was also the claim that the killed people got burned, something which we did get verified from multiple sources.
Despite this we also decided to try something unconventional. A medium. A woman in her 40s with a self-proclaimed "tight" connection with the realm of the dead and a skill to contact the deceased. We of course did not tell her what it was about, only the names of the people we had been informed where killed during the event.
In an eerie seance session, we witnessed a chilling attempt to verify the claims. As the medium delved deeper into the otherworldly realm, a desperate voice pierced the silence, begging and pleading, "Please stop... oh no no no, please don't kill me! I've done nothing!"
The atmosphere grew tense as another voice erupted in anger, hurling accusations that echoed through the dimly lit room. Sensing the escalating turmoil, the medium abruptly severed the connection, apologizing and explaining it could have gotten dangerous if she maintained the connection as the spirit was very upset and demanded justice for the way it had been killed.
Make of that what you will. In fact, make of this whole thing what you will. But in the name of all benevolent gods and spirits out there - stop killing people just because someone shouts cultist and they happen to wear a robe and hood.
Can we have the Stormwind back where fair justice reigns and not bloodthirsty mobs and out of line military men and women. Lets get back to how soldiers exist to protect the citizens, not to slaughter them or beat them up because they feel like it.
