Saturday the 5th the Violet City hosted an art festival, showing once more why it is such an important cultural center. During the evening several artists performed with music, poems and plays. The festival was hosted and arranged by Leliti and Khari, both experienced people when it comes to hosting events and adding to the cultural scene of Dalaran.
The first performance was Alaero Summerflare, who offered a wonderful story as a part of his illusionary show. Many musicians played as well, like
Kraanos, whose lute delighted the audience with some calmed but beautiful pieces, a bit of a contrast to the party that closed the night with
Sparrow and
Barovar Sunwhisper. And of course, how not to mention the Poetry Appreciation Society, that offered poems by
Bertel Wobblespring,
Deedi Dirgefuse and
Stoen Pongram. This is just one of the many they read, in this case by
Deedi Dirgefuse.
Deedi Dirgefuse:
This is my tribute to tasty treats and sugary desserts, behold: "The court of desserts".
Glistening in the sunshine with a radiant red hue.
Enticingly begging for a bite from the gluttonous you.
The apple hanging on the branch, so innocent and sweet,
It must have plans to seduce you into a reckless act of greed.
A day later, it's an apple pie, sitting on the porch waiting to cool down,
Its smell beckoning you to take it as your own.
Robed into a cloak of powdered sugar and wearing a crown of cinnamon,
It holds court above all other desserts present at the courts summon.
There be plump pudding ladies, spotting a gentle, wobbly smile,
A cheesecake Mistress, showing off her natural style.
A chattering group of young and nervous muffins adorned with blueberries,
Talking about the newest gossip and making further inquiries.
The court is a bustle of noise and chatter,
Until the loud clatter of the seneschals’ ceremonial batter.
He is the adorned official, wearing the waffle of his standing,
Majestic in his own way with the chocolate ice cream on his heading.
"Hear ye, hear ye, his succulent majesty would like to proclaim,
The sweetest and fairest in all his realm.
The future queen to his heart and flavour,
Who will be reigning with him over his realm in favour.".
The soon to be queen with fair a spirit that could be found,
Rushes up to his throne to be in his company abound.
She is a beauty for every eye to behold,
Since she is the sweetest of all in the hold.
She, her soon to be majesty in her own right,
Is a velvety chocolate cake with a flavour of rum ever so slight.
A delicate flower among all those creatures,
With a radiant beauty in all of her features.
After joining the king up near the throne quite uppity,
She proclaims in a joyous tone: "It’s time for tea".
So dear listener, I wish you "Bon Appetit".

But during the whole evening various painters also showed off their art and sold their art pieces. Here I have to say I would have personally liked to be able to hear the music while seeing the paintings and buying some, but sadly the distance between the area with the musicians performing, and the painters did not make it possible.
While checking the stalls and even getting some paintings myself, I had the chance to ask some of the painters how the evening was going and their thoughts on the festival.
Anthony Wildfel:
"It's going... astoundingly well, I think. It's nice to have a chance to get your work out there as an artist. Sometimes it can be hard to make a name for yourself and things like this really help with that."
From Mister Wildfel I bought an excellent piece called
"Return to Val’sharah", that shows the beauty of the landscape in the area, the different colours of the trees from orange to red, and a few green ones, and in the background an elven building against the mountains.
Fyre’radell Featherbrush:
"I'd say it's gone wonderfully so far! I know it may be a little off to see people at an art festival not selling art. But then again, I feel our business is vital along the years in the industry. As much as we hate it, paintings, sculptures, and relics get damaged but we're here to help!"
As hinted by Fyre’radell the Featherbrush Art Restoration stall did not offer paintings but it showcased their work restoring art pieces. Which can be a great gift to have a piece restored for a dear family member or a friend.
Feltrand Ravensun:
"Evening was quite lovely so. It was a while since I was only selling made things. If I am around on festivals, I usually perch myself down and offer service of sketching folk. A change of pace is always nice."
I was recommended to check Mister Ravensun’s stall by a friend, and I can only say I was astonished by his works. I ended getting a painting of the Observatory in Suramar, taken from the rampart above the zoo with the colors shifting in the night sky of the fireworks. It included magical animated effects on it, and the Observatory crowning the left side middle of the piece, with the town bellow.
These were only some of the artist present, other performers and painters present were
Noelle Lavoy,
Fele’thos Stillwind,
Derenly Winterdawn,
Thomas “Tom” Jaccu,
Auxélie Stillwind, and
Sia Nightingale.
Vivan Skybreaker was also invited but unfortunately could not attend.
Sadly, as the festival required to split attention between the performances and the painters, I could only visit some stalls and see some of the performances.
All in all a good first try at this new event, and I hope more will follow!
